Accountability

Editorial and Corrections Policy

The tracker separates evidence from allegation and prioritizes material that readers can verify for themselves.

Effective September 3, 2026

Source priorities

Primary sources are preferred for legal and governmental claims. These include court opinions and filings, statutes, bills, official meeting records, contracts, audits, policies, public records, and agency statements. Credible original reporting and legal institute research are used to add facts and context.

Distinct stories

Duplicate station rewrites, syndicated copies, and reposted wire stories are generally excluded unless they add material facts, documents, local context, or a meaningful response. A large source count should not be created by counting the same reporting repeatedly.

Labels matter

The tracker distinguishes confirmed facts, reported claims, allegations, advocacy positions, government arguments, defense arguments, trial court rulings, appellate precedent, pending legislation, enacted law, temporary pauses, and permanent program cancellations. An allegation is not described as a judicial finding.

Court coverage

Case entries identify the court, date, procedural posture, holding or requested relief, significance, source link, and counsel when verified. A trial court decision is not presented as nationwide precedent. Counsel information that cannot yet be confirmed is marked as under verification.

Automated assistance

Automated tools may assist with monitoring, organizing, comparing, summarizing, and detecting possible updates. Automated output by itself is not treated as evidence. Material claims should be checked against the linked source, and legal conclusions should be tied to the actual court or legislative record.

Images

Images labeled “Editorial image” are illustrative and are not photographs of the reported event, person, camera, agency, or court file. Documentary images should be labeled and credited separately.

Corrections

Substantive factual errors should be corrected promptly and transparently. A correction should identify what changed when the earlier wording could materially affect a reader’s understanding. Routine spelling, formatting, link, and clarity fixes may be made without a separate correction note.

Requests for review

A person or organization named in the tracker may request review of a claimed factual error by identifying the exact entry, the disputed statement, and supporting primary records. Disagreement with accurate reporting or criticism does not by itself require removal.

Funding and conflicts

The site currently carries no paid advertising or sponsored content. If sponsorship, affiliate relationships, grants, or material conflicts are introduced, they should be disclosed clearly and close to the relevant content.
